To the honorable George King judge of the court of probates in and for the Parish of St. Landry, State of Louisiana.

The petition of Caleb L. Swayze, a resident of and administrator in the Parish of St. Landry and state of Louisiana, and with respect represents that John Walker late of said parish and state died on the ____ day of the month of January in the year 1840, leaving an estate consisting of land, slaves and moveable property in said parish which to prevent damage and loss the same requires the appointment of an administrator.

Your petitioner further alleges that the said estate is indebted to a considerable amount and he is the representative of several individuals who hold claims against the same. That he has been solicited to apply for the administrator of the same by the said creditors and persons interested.

Wherefore the premeses considered your petitioner prays that he may be appointed administrator of the estate of said deceased and that due notice may be given of this application.  He prays for such other and further relief as law & equity will allow and for general relief.
