Second succession for John Walker - 1840
John Walker Partnership with Eugene Egan
John Walker had a partnership with a Eugene Egan in a cloth factory in St. Landry Parish. This succession was for the sale of the factory and all items in the factory by the parish court to probate the property of John Walker after his death. The document does not include some names which were left blank and with a probable intent of George King, Probate Judge for St. Landry Parish, to add the names at a later date. The administrator for the succession was probably C. S. Swayze, Attorney at Law in St. Landry Parish, appointed by George King to represent John Walker during the probate of the succession.
I am not sure where the factory was located, but the probate of property was held on the property of Eugene Egan and the document states that it occurred about 25 miles from Opelousas. Eugene Egan does not appear on the 1840 St. Landry Parish census, but he was in the Opelousas District on the 1830 St. Landry Parish census with three males in the household, one age 20-30 and two aged 40-50.
