Thomas Donoho (1751-1825)
Thomas Donoho was in Caswell County, North Carolina, by 1772 (then Orange County). He secured title to six hundred four acres of land on the Dan River July 11, 1778. He served in the Revolutionary War, first being appointed a lieutenant by the Provincial Congress meeting in New Bern, rising to field officer in the Continental Army, was in the Battles of Brandywine and Guilford Court House. Thomas Donohoe was major of the Sixth Regiment North Carolina Foot, organized at Hillsborough , 1776 , and was a brave Revolutionary officer. Joined the "Order of the Cincinnati," with Col. Thomas Donoho, 1776, entered the army as lieutenant and commanded a company under Col. Archibald Lytle. He was at Guilford Court House and was promoted major, 1781, after the battle of Eutaw. He was born in Bedford county, Va., and died in Caswell county, N. C., 1825.
