Dear Sister I take my pen in hand to answer your most kind and welcome letter which I received friday it found us both well and very busy you ought to be here to see what fine cotton we have got it is needing picking so bad we have got about [?]3 acres that has never been picked and it just as thick as it can be and it has rained a [bing] rain this morning and they and they can't get hands I think the reason it rained was because I had company Saturday evening and yesterday evening both Sister you and Jack must come for I want to see you all I can't come Lawrence is coming in 2 or 3 weeks [Texana] is living about 4 miles above where we live I have never seen her tell Andrew he must save me some walnuts the reason I did not tell him I thought he would be busy picking cotton and would be two tired when he came out of the field you must excuse a short letter Lawrence and his pa is going to the woods and they are hurrying me you must write soon and a long letter kiss the children and write soon to your ever loving Sister
