Elisha Whittington was the brother of John Whittington who was my ggg-grandfather.  John was the father of Frances Whittington who married Thomas Jefferson Walker. She and Thomas were my gg-grandparents. The Amnesty Oath was required of everyone who had opposed the Union during the Civil War.
